In September 2013 the Sri Lanka Federation of the Visually Handicapped organized a media conference at the Government Information Department to mark the International White Cane Day. Ms. Manique Gunaratne from The Employers’ Federation of Ceylon Network on Disability and General Secretary (2010 to 2015) of the Sri Lanka Federation of the Visually Handicapped did a presentation on “Women with visual impairement”. More than 60 media personnel attended this media conference. Rupavahini and ITN TV channels telecasted this event in their main news bullatine. Neth FM radio channel broadcasted this event and following news papers featured this event in their news papers. They are, Island, Divamina, Dinamina, Lakbima, rivira, Navaliya and Daly Mirror.
